GIRAFFLE

Responsible Play

Giraffle prize draws should be an enjoyable extra, never a way to make money or solve money worries. This page explains the tools you can use to stay in control, how we look out for our customers, and where to find free, independent support.

Who can take part

Giraffle is for UK residents aged 18 or over. You must complete an 18+ age check before your first competition entry can be accepted.

Your Responsible Play tools

You can use these tools at any time from Responsible Play in your account.

Sign in to manage your Responsible Play settings

  • •Monthly spending limit. Set a limit from £0 to £10,000 on what you spend each calendar month (UK time). Lowering your limit takes effect straight away. Raising or removing it takes effect after a 24-hour waiting period, and lowering it again during that time cancels the change.
  • •Take a Break. Pause your account for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. A break starts straight away and cannot be shortened or ended early, but you can extend it. During a break you cannot enter competitions.
  • •Self-Exclusion. Exclude yourself for 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. It starts straight away and cannot be ended before the period you chose. Once that period has passed, your account does not reopen by itself. You need to ask to return, and there is then a 24-hour waiting period, which you can cancel.

Closing your account

You can ask us to close your account by emailing support@giraffleuk.com from the email address registered to your account. A closed account cannot take part in competitions, spend Giraffle Credit, receive awards or receive marketing. You can still sign in and view your account history.

Closing your account is separate from Take a Break and Self-Exclusion, which are protective tools that last for a fixed period. If you are worried about how much you are taking part, we recommend Self-Exclusion, because it is designed for that.

We would only consider reopening a closed account if you asked us to, and only after a review.

How we look out for our customers

We monitor relevant account and activity indicators to help us spot signs that a customer may need support. Where we have a concern, we may carry out a player-protection review, send you support information, or take proportionate protective action on your account.

Our commitments

  • •We give every customer simple tools to set a spending limit, take a break or self-exclude.
  • •Changes that strengthen your protections take effect straight away. Changes that relax them have a waiting period.
  • •We do not send marketing to customers who are on a break, are self-excluded or have a restricted account.
  • •We offer a free postal entry route for every competition whose rules say free entry is enabled. Free postal entry
  • •We tell you how to contact us and how to make a complaint.

Our approach to the DCMS Code

Giraffle is not currently a signatory to the DCMS Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators. We have designed our player-protection and transparency measures around the Code, and we are working towards becoming a signatory. The Code is published by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Our approach to it does not mean that DCMS has approved, certified or endorsed Giraffle.
